A plunge into the typing pool

So … 

In common with many other people, I have thought about writing off and on for a very long time.

“Go on”, some have said, “we’ve all got a book in us and you’ve had more life experiences than most”. That either means I’ve led an interesting life, or I’m getting old!

I’m not so sure that my life experiences add up to more than most, but I’ve certainly stared death in the face more times than some people and walked away with a story to tell.

I am getting old, though … but the least said about that, the better.

My experience is that controlled risk taking results in a feeling of being truly alive … as long as it’s me that’s doing the controlling and not some desk-bound bureaucrat 🙂 It will be a sad day indeed, if the world no longer tolerates people coming to grief as a result of pushing the edge of the envelope a bit too far. Just so long as you don’t take some innocent bystander with you, I suppose.

Maybe I’ve just been fortunate to survive where other risk lovers have come a cropper. One of a dying breed, you could say, although it would be more accurate to say one of a not dying breed!

I suspect I’ve just been more conscious of where the fuzzy line between self control and plain stupidity lies and that I’ve never been that concerned at being called a cowardy custard from time to time.
