Cardicwtch is a combination of two things. “Cardi” is a reference to someone who lives in or near Cardigan in West Wales and “cwtch” is a Welsh word to describe a hug, but not any old hug.

A cwtch is the sort of all embracing cuddle, full of unconditional warmth. The sort of cuddle a parent gives their child when they’ve fallen over. It makes you feel safe and puts everything right.
